Ways to use your Red Heart of Hope

Not sure how to use your Red Heart of Hope? Let’s start with the anointing oil and its purpose.

According to Dictionary.com, the word ‘anoint’ means to consecrate or make sacred in a ceremony that includes applying oil* or to dedicate to the service of God. *Essential oils or olive oil can be used.

Throughout the Old and New Testaments, any anointed person would use anointing oil to anoint themselves or others. Jesus Christ instructed his disciples to anoint themselves whenever they prayed and fasted (Matthew 6:17KJV). Jesus also filled the disciples with his power over unclean spirits (Mark 6:7, 12-13KJV).  Now, as a believer, because the Holy Spirit is within you, you have the power to anoint others or yourself.

The following is a suggested way to anoint your Red Heart of Hope or prayer card:

Above all, remember to place your faith in Jesus and He will be your guiding light, showing you how to utilize the anointing oil alongside your Red Heart of Hope or prayer card.

Remember, there is no wrong approach to spreading hope and love. Let the gentle nudges of the Lord steer your heart and infuse you with the creativity to illuminate someone's day through the gift of RHH. Moreover, RHH holds the potential to offer hope and comfort to those wrestling with hopelessness, sickness or grappling with grief.

  • Set your intention for the use of the RHH or prayer card. This could be for protection, healing, guidance, blessing, or any other specific purpose.

  • Take a small amount of the anointing oil onto your fingertips. Gently rub or dab the oil onto the Red Heart of Hope or prayer card. You may choose to make a cross or circle with the oil as you apply it.

  • This is your lifeline to Jesus.

  • As you apply the oil, state your intention out loud or in your mind. You can use your own words, scripture, or traditional prayers. If words fail you, just speak the name of Jesus. Focus on your intention and visualize the desired outcome.

  • Express gratitude for the protection, blessings, guidance, or healing that you seek or have received. Give thanks to Jesus.

  • When you feel ready, close the prayer in a way that is meaningful to you.

1.     Optional, anoint your Red Heart of Hope or prayer card with anointing oil.

2.     Place it in a desired location – in your teenager’s car or backpack, under your child’s pillow.

3.     Give to a friend – who is in the hospital or going through a hard season.

4.     Keep it to pray over yourself, your family, or a friend.
